In an estate of about 10,000 sqmt on Pearson Avenue in Barcelona, Renovation of the former guardhouse and addition of a library was proposed. The proposal was to merge the two programs into one, using the existing building as part of the new volume.
The existing building, with a hip-roof spanning two floors, is added a new glass volume serving as a lobby and distributor with stair access to the lower level, where the library develops the main reading and consultation room.
Prism-shaped skylights were placed on the deck of the reading room in order to funnel indirect sunlight, achieving constant lighting conditions for the reading spaces.
